Salash's authentic Speck {Serbian: Špek} is a traditional dry-cured delicacy, similar to bacon, made from the most succulent part of the pig – the pork belly. Their classic preparation method imparts a distinct flavour that is wonderfully special and the texture is delightfully smooth. They carefully ensure that the meat remains sweet and takes on a mildly smoky flavour.

Superb when eaten fresh – thinly sliced with cheese and tomatoes or rubbed with garlic on rye bread – or finely diced as a great snack with drinks. Speck is easy to incorporate into your kitchen too – easily replacing bacon. It’s perfect when eaten with potatoes and vegetables, as a delicious condiment for hearty soups and stews and is often chopped into small pieces and fried to render the natural fat for use in real cooking.
